New age spiritual movement is driven by science, but there was a period where there existed a big rift between science and spirituality. Those days scientists believed things which cant be proved are unreal and religious institutions punished scientists who proved some part of the religious texts wrong. According to science in those days believing in unseen is not real and they tagged the spiritual ideas which talks about unseen as just a mad fantasy.
But spirituality prevailed during the ancient period prior to Newtonian era, ancient civilization believed in an unseen world which can only be sensed by our sixth sense, The great philosophers of ancient Greece and Babylonia and the remains we got from the excavations conducted on those places are giving us ample proof that there existed a spiritual society. Also if we look at the Egyptian civilization we can see that most of their architectural structures have got some spiritual significance, The stuffs they put inside the pyramids for after life is a proof that they belied in the existence of immortal soul. Also if we can go back check the records we can see that ancient tribes living in South America ( Mayans , Incas etc ) were truly spiritual people their society revolved around their spiritual beliefs and ideas. Also there are proofs of spiritual society in ancient China and India. Almost all the religions are founder before Newtonian era, Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Paganism, Christianity, Judaism, Islam etc. Science was also dominant in those period, Astronomy and mathematics were the dominant science where as physics was weaker and Physics is the Science that prove the rules of physical world.
Emergence of Newtonian age marked the rise of Physics which came up with theories started to prove that we are living in a material world with material objects moving according to their rules, There started a big rift between science and spirituality, but when they gone further deep into physics with the emergence of quantum physics and their experiments they reached a point where they started getting proof that this physical world we live in is a fake.
The New age marked a big improvement of medical and health care now doctors can revive a dead patient, especially a clinically dead cardiac arrest victims with the help of new medical gadgets and the testimonies of revived patients are telling us their afterlife experience about the existence of a spiritual world. With the help of new technology we can go deep inside human brain and study about its functions and it is also pushing us out of the boundaries of physical world.
So this why most new age thinkers are Physicist and Medical Scientist. The new age Spirituality is going to change the world we live, it will fill the negative effects of religion based spirituality it will start seeing all humans as souls and it wont divide people in basis of religion and It will be more powerful that the earlier spiritual society because of the support of Science.
